About Us

The Kentucky Folkstyle Wrestling Committee (KFWC) was founded in 2005 by a group of dedicated coaches, parents, and wrestling advocates who believed the sport could change lives across the Commonwealth. What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a statewide organization committed to building champions both on and off the mat.

At KFWC, our mission is simple but powerful: to promote the growth, development, and excellence of youth and middle school wrestling throughout Kentucky. We believe wrestling is more than a sport; it’s a training ground for life. It teaches resilience, humility, discipline, and grit while shaping young athletes into strong leaders and well-rounded individuals.

We are committed to:

  • Developing character, discipline, and sportsmanship in every athlete.

  • Creating structured, competitive opportunities for wrestlers of all skill levels to learn, grow, and achieve their personal best.

  • Supporting coaches, parents, and communities with resources, training, and leadership.

  • Expanding access to wrestling for young athletes across Kentucky.

  • Fostering a lifelong love for wrestling while preparing athletes for success in high school, college, and beyond.

Since our founding, KFWC has served as the heartbeat of youth and middle school wrestling in Kentucky, uniting communities around a shared passion for the sport and the belief that wrestling builds more than champions; it builds character. Together, we’re working to ensure the next generation of Kentucky wrestlers has the opportunity to learn, compete, and thrive.
